MOORINGSPORT, LA (KSLA) - An argument among four residents of a Mooringsport mobile home Sunday morning led to a beating, a shooting, a death and an arrest, Caddo Parish Sheriff's deputies say.
Roderrick Scott, 35, of Shreveport has been charged with second-degree murder and aggravated second-degree battery in connection with the incidents. He was moved Sunday evening from a jail in Blanchard to the Caddo Correctional Center, deputies say.
The murder charge is linked to the death of Stuart Myers, 29, who was shot in the chest, deputies say. They say Scott beat Myers in the head with a shotgun before shooting him. Myers was pronounced dead at the scene.
The aggravated battery charge against Scott stems from the beating of a 27-year-old woman who was hit in the head with the same shotgun used against Myers, deputies say. She was flown by Life Air to LSU Health.
Deputies withheld the name of the woman pending notification of next of kin.
Deputies say Scott, who was arrested at the scene, confessed to the events during interviews with investigators.
Events began about 9:30 a.m. at a mobile home at 8954 Lindsey Road, where deputies say they and fire officials responded after a 9-1-1 call to investigate a domestic disturbance.
The disturbance centered around Scott and his girlfriend, Myer's mother, Myers and the 27-year-old woman, deputies say, adding that the four recently began having difficulties living together.
On Saturday, Myers' mother and Scott began making plans to move out of the mobile home, and on Sunday started moving their belongings to another location, deputies say.
During the move, a fight that began inside the house spilled outside, and Myers was shot with a shotgun, deputies say. They say they believe Scott also used the shotgun as a club to strike Myers and the female victim.
