TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

Authorities are charging a Texarkana woman with 3 counts of abandoning/endangering a child after leaving her three grandchildren in the car while she went shopping Tuesday afternoon.

Texarkana, TX police say they received a call about children being left unattended in a vehicle at the Wal Mart in the 4000 block of New Boston Rd. Two officers found 3 children, ages 10, 2, and 1-month alone in a car with the windows rolled halfway down in temperatures of 100 degrees.

The oldest child reportedly identified her grandmother to police who were able to contact her by cell phone. Investigators say 41-year-old Dunashautta Moore finish shopping before responding to police requests to return to the vehicle.

Officers say they waited nearly twenty minutes in hot temperatures for the grandmother to return. Moore was booked at the Bi-State Justice Center on three counts of endangering/abandoning a child. Bond has not yet been set.

Child Protective Services released the children to their aunt after being medically evaluated by Lifenet.
