A man is in custody after allegedly attacking another man with a knife.

The stabbing happened just before 8 o'clock in the 45-hundred block of Tulsa Street.  That's in Shreveport's Caddo Heights neighborhood. According to Shreveport Police, the suspect told them he acted in self defense. Homicide detectives are looking into that claim.

Officers at the overnight patrol desk did not have names of the suspect or victim but according to the Shreveport City Jail booking website, Frederick Reutlinger of Bossier City is charged with attempted murder of the second degree. The booking notes say:

"The offender was in a physical altercation with the complaint. During the fight, the offender took out a knife and stab and cut the complainant across the stomach exposing his intestine. Victim is now in ICU. Subject was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder."

When we last spoke with Shreveport Police, officers told KSLA News 12 that the victim was in surgery.  He's being treated at LSU Hospital.
