SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Former Centenary basketball star Larry Robinson is being inducted into the Ark-La-Sports Museum of Champions Saturday night at the Shreveport Convention Center. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m., part of a five-member class that joins 118 past inductees.

Also in this year's class are Pro Football Hall of Famer Y.A. Tittle, legendary Shreveport high school football coach Lee Hedges, Grambling and NFL quarterback Doug Williams, and Northeast Louisiana University and Olympic basketball player Glynn Saulters, Jr.

Robinson had a standout prep career at Airline High School, including leading the Vikings to a perfect 30-0 regular season record in 1985-86. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard played collegiately two seasons (1986-88) at Eastern Oklahoma State Junior College where he averaged more than 24 points per game as a sophomore and was a Second-Team Junior College All-American.

After junior college, Robinson returned to Shreveport-Bossier to play two seasons (1988-1990) at Centenary. He led the Gents to a 22-8 record and the Trans America Athletic Conference Championship, averaging 22.9 points per game and 3.5 steals per game (fourth-best in nation). Robinson was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the TAAC in 1989-90 for his efforts.

Robinson played professionally with eight different NBA teams – Washington Bullets, Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Vancouver Grizzlies, Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks – intermittently from 1990-01 to 2001-02. He also played in CBA, IBL, USBL, and abroad in Europe (France, Spain), the Philippines, Venezuela and Puerto Rico. Robinson earned championship rings with the Houston Rockets (NBA) and the Yakima Sun Kings (CBA).

Robinson was elected to the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches (LABC) Hall of Fame in 1998. Robinson was enshrined in the Centenary College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.

He hosted a summer basketball camp for nine years in Shreveport-Bossier, where the emphasis is on teamwork and providing competitive opportunities to kids of all backgrounds. In 2005, Robinson went back to school and graduated from Centenary College with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Robinson, 44, lives in Shreveport and works as the Director of Customer Relations for Future Technology LLC. He and his fiancée, Katrina Thomas, have five kids and one special God son.
