SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
Shreveport Police and Fire Departments have cleared the roadway at W. 70th Street and Bert Kouns Industrial Drive of a FedEx tractor-trailer that flipped on its side and blocked much of the intersection Friday morning.
No injuries were reported even though the driver, Demetrius Falls, 37, of Bedford Falls, Texas had to be pulled from the cab after rescue units removed the windshield, police say. Falls was not cited.
Police say the FedEx truck, carrying a double trailer, was heading west on the 6900 block of Bert Kouns about 10 a.m. when its load shifted while Falls was turning left into the 7000 block of W. 70th Street. The cab and the first trailer overturned, but the second trailer remained upright.
The truck was carrying liquid containers, some of which spilled onto the roadway but not into any drainage areas, so there was no need for hazardous materials units to respond, authorities say.
Authorities built a dam of sand to contain the liquid, and diverted traffic around a stretch of W. 70th Street for much of the afternoon.
