Tax free weekend hits Louisiana

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shops around Shreveport are prepping for a busy weekend.

The parking lot at Mall St. Vincent was quiet before the stores opened their doors Friday morning, but once the sun went up it filled up fast. Tax free weekend has hit Louisiana again, and many are looking to brave the crowds for some big savings.

Louisiana tax free shopping began Friday morning at 12:01 am and will go until Saturday night. Those in Arkansas will be tax free starting tomorrow through Sunday.

Texan tax free is the weekend of the 17th. Most people are hitting the shops for back to school shopping. "Without taxes we're able to spend more money and get more stuff that we need. It helps us and it also helps stores because they're selling more products" Lia Kazan says about the tax free weekend.

"I guess I'm going to be school shopping getting school supplies and uniforms and all the fun stuff" Christy Salter says. "I don't have any specific things in mind maybe some clothes" Cheryl Arnold says.

This weekend's tax free discount applies to things like school supplies and clothes. Be prepared for busy malls and shopping centers this weekend!
