GREENWOOD, LA (KSLA) -

Jaxsen Hilyer was just seven weeks old when he died.  Ashley Tackett, Jaxsen's mom says that one morning she walked over to his crib and touched his back and he didn't move.  She knew that wasn't a good sign.  Ashley said that she then pulled his blanket back and he was cold.  She was devastated and confused.  It was later determined that Baby Jaxsen died from the unexplainable Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

All of a sudden Ashley and Jaxsen's father were hit with funeral expenses.  Both were unemployed at the time.  She received a call from a woman named Audrey McCormick who wanted to help.  Audrey was contacted by Ashley's friend and ironically Audrey had just started an organization called David's Gift.

Audrey knows the pain.  Audrey and Gabe McCormick lost their Baby David from SIDs just three days after he was born.  That happened seven years ago.  Audrey says David's Gift had been a work in progress since her child died.   A couple of months ago she pushed forward and started the organization.  Ashley was the first person she contacted to help.

The McCormicks were able to bury their son with the help of family and friends.  They say there are little options for such tiny caskets for your baby unless you are willing to spend hundreds more.  The McCormicks did spend more for the casket they wanted, and now they want more families to be able to do the same even if they don't have the money.  That's where David's Gift comes in.  The organization is helping families pay for funeral expenses for their children.

Ashley said Audrey called her one afternoon and told her all of her baby's funeral expenses were taken care of.  Ashley now calls Audrey her Guardian Angel for all that she has done to make sure her baby not only had a proper burial but the type of burial the family wanted.
