CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -
A Keithville woman is charged with vehicular negligent injury in connection with a wreck that critically injured a 12-year-old girl on July 11.
Toxicology evidence obtained following the crash on Hwy. 169 in Keithville allowed traffic safety investigators with the Sheriff's Office to obtain a warrant Monday for the arrest of Marsha Diane Maurer, 35.
Caddo deputies say Maurer was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Venture van when she crashed her vehicle into a ditch, striking trees, and coming to rest in the roadway.
Two passengers – a 23-year-old man and a 12-year-old girl - in her vehicle suffered severe injuries. The girl remains in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at LSU Health in critical condition.
Maurer was arrested by Deputy Ken Davis and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on two counts of first-degree vehicular negligent injury and one count of driving under suspension. No bond has been set.
