RUSTON, LA (KSLA) - Louisiana Tech University's mascot is missing, and the vet that cares for "Tech XX" says he believes the beloved bulldog was stolen.

According to the school president's assistant, staff at a nearby animal clinic let the 4-year-old British bulldog outside to relieve himself Sunday evening around 8 p.m. When they checked on the dog a few minutes later, he was gone.

Tech XX, also known as "L.T.," lives with Doctor Patrick Sexton, who runs the northeast Ruston clinic.

Sexton says he suspects the dog was taken because the animal was familiar with the clinic and its routines. Normally, when the dog was let out, he would come right back in. This time, when they went to let him in, he simply wasn't there.

Besides, Sexton says, the dog prefers air conditioning to the outdoors, and wouldn't run away.

Police have been notified, and the university is offering a $2,000 reward for Tech XX's safe return.

Tech XX was named mascot in 2008, replacing Tech XIX, who retired due to health concerns.
