SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
An elderly resident is safe after escaping a small house fire in the Caddo Heights area Tuesday morning.
Firefighters responded to a house fire around 2 a.m. at a home in the 1400 block in the Grigsby Street. They were able to get the fire under control in less than five minutes. Firefighters say the fire started at the back of the home. No major damage was reported.
An elderly resident got out safely with the help of neighbors, received first aid treatment at the scene and was taken to LSU Health for smoke inhalation.
She will be able to return to the home after being checked out.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.
