SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Several tenants were injured after following a two alarm fire in West Shreveport Monday morning.

Shreveport Fire Department Chief Louis Johnson says firefighters battled the blaze at the Villa Marquis Apartments in the 3700 block of Valley View Drive.

Johnson says the blaze started just before 4:30 a.m. He says they were able to get the fire under control within 30 minutes.

Johnson says those injured include a pregnant woman believed to be in her 30s that jumped out of a second-story window to escape the flames and a 57-year-old woman who suffered a fractured ankle also after jumping out of a window to escape the fire. A family with a child were taken to LSU Health to be evaluated. A 22-year-old man was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

Johnson says four units in the complex were heavily damaged by the fire including smoke and water damage.
