SFD investigating suspicious early morning fire

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport fire investigators are looking into what they call a suspicious fire that heavily damaged a Shreveport home early Sunday morning.

It happened in the 2800 block of Randolph at about 4:30 a.m.

Investigators say the most unusual thing about the fire is that they were called out to the house earlier, and they had checked on the house overnight and everything seemed fine.

"Last night a little after 9 o'clock there was some light smoke in the attic, and we traced it down to a wire.   We disconnected electricity, called out swepco, pulled out a lot of the ceiling and stuff to make sure it was out.   Then, they came back here around 12:30 this morning just to check and make sure it was still out.   Then, at 4:30 this morning, this call came in that it was fully involved," said SFD Chief Scott Wolverton.

Investigators say what makes this suspicious is fire fighters don't think there was any power running to the house at the time of the fire.

The fire heavily damaged the house, especially the roof.
