SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Authorities have released the names of two teens killed in a one vehicle crash Thursday morning in West Shreveport.

Shreveport police officers were dispatched at 4:25 a.m. to the 6700 block of South Lakeshore Drive just west of Risinger Drive relative to a major crash involving one vehicle, where they determined that a 2005 Chevrolet had apparently been traveling northwest on South Lakeshore Drive before it left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree.

The two occupants of the vehicle, identified as 17-year-old Richard Calderas and 16-year-old Rene Calderas, both of Caddo Parish, were pronounced dead at the scene. The two were brothers.

Officers were forced to close a section of South Lakeshore Drive between Pines Road and Risinger Drive for a short period of time but that section of the roadway was soon re-opened to traffic.

Shreveport police say crash investigators immediately responded and, based on preliminary information and evidence gathered, believe speed may have been a factor but they say are still working at this hour to definitively determine what caused this crash.
