SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The search is on for an armed robber who police say attacked and robbed a Southwest Shreveport convenience store employee at gunpoint.

Police were called to the Lafuente Plaza Latina in the 8900 block of Kingston Road just before 3 p.m. Thursday for a report of an armed robbery.

An employee told police that a lone male suspect entered the store, pulled a mask down over his face and demanded money. She initially gave him some, at which point, he physically attacked her and demanded more money.

During the attack, police say he pulled a gun and forced her to the back of the store, where he got more money before taking off on foot. Police don't know if he got into a vehicle or not.

The employee suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

Detectives are continuing to investigate, and confirm they are interviewing more witnesses and reviewing video evidence.
