Official: ETX man behind bars after drunken father/son scuffle

An East Texas man is in the Rusk County Jail after striking his son with a frying pan, officials say.

Around 10:30 Tuesday night, the Rusk County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in the 200 block of CR 2123.

According to the police report, Thomas Anthony Beason, 50, and his son Tommy Dale Beason, 27, returned home from a fishing trip, and were both intoxicated.

The pair got into an argument, which escalated into a physical altercation, the Rusk County Sheriff's Office says.

In the report, Tommy stated his farther struck him with a frying pan, breaking the handle, which he claims stabbed him.

Tommy was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center where he is currently in the ICU. Hospital officials say Tommy has undergone at least one surgery since his admission.

Thomas is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/family violence. He's held in the Rusk County Jail on $20,000 bond.
