SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Caddo Sheriff's deputies have a man in custody following a standoff.

Deputies say the man was fired from his job and made some threatening statements to his former employer.

"This is not a good time to be going around making threats like that. Everything you say is going to be taken seriously," said Captain Kevin Dunn with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputies gave the man verbal commands on a loud speaker to come out of the man's home in the 9000 block of Jody Circle for at least five hours.

"When he heard us talking to him, actually his girlfriend was talking to him. He replied back to her, and he was asking what we were doing there, and she explained to him we just want him to come out peacefully, didn't want to hurt anybody," said Captain Dunn.

The man came out on his own and was immediately taken into custody. No one else was in the home.

Special Response team members were at the scene with assault rifles and an armored vehicle was on standby.
