Prosecution waits for recordings of accused 'back-room salon injector'

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Carmel Foster, the Tyler cosmetologist accused of giving illegal breast enhancement injections to East Texas women was back in court Tuesday morning.

Although the defense for Ms. Foster says it is ready, the prosecution is waiting on the outcome of video evidence before it will be ready to go to trial.

Prosecutors said one of the things they need to proceed with the trial is the audio recording of a jail interview with Carmel Foster by KLTV. The District Attorney's office has subpoenaed KLTV for a copy of those recordings.

Today, the state said the FDA is finalizing a report regarding the substance Foster was allegedly injecting into East Texas women. That report is expected to be finished this week.

The state requested to file a formal motion to limit interviews with people who could be later called as witnesses with the media, but that was denied.

The next hearing was set for July 16. Court coordinators say it is likely her trial will not begin until late August.
