SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Information from the Shreveport Police Department:

A local man is recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg after two suspects tried to rob him in north Shreveport Saturday night.

At approximately 7:11 p.m. on July 7, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 1000 block of Lafourche Circle relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, patrolmen found 38 year old Tyrone Tyson suffering from a single gunshot wound to the knee. Tyson was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what was described as a non-life-threatening injury.

Detectives immediately responded to the scene of the crime and, upon further investigation, learned two armed suspects apparently entered the residence there on Lafourche Circle and tried to rob Tyson. Witnesses were able to identify the pair and within short order investigators arrested 17 year old Demarsay Washington without incident.

Washington, of the 1600 block of Fullerton Street in Shreveport, was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of armed robbery with a firearm.

Authorities believe the other suspect is the man who shot Tyson and they are working at this hour to positively identify and apprehend him. Anyone with any information regarding this crime is urged to contact Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or www.lockemup.org
