SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport man recently found guilty of murder in the shooting death of a toddler was sentenced Thursday to life in prison.

Anthony Paul Johnson, 22, will spend the rest of his days at hard labor and without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence, the Caddo Parish District Attorney's office says.

Johnson had been found guilty June 27 by a Caddo Parish jury that issued a unanimous verdict of second degree murder for the August 2008 shooting death of 17-month-old LeGary Adams.

Adams was fatally wounded when shots were fired into a home in the 3100 block of Lillian Street. Johnson was 19-years-old at the time of the shooting.

Caddo District Court Judge Mike Pitman, who sentenced Johnson, also denied a defense motion for a new trial.
