BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Bossier attorney John Settle on Thursday formally asked the Louisiana Supreme Court to reverse Tuesday's appellate court ruling in favor of the Bossier Parish School Board in a suit alleging fraud in connection with the April bond election.

Settle says the appeal is an application for the state's high court to review the case and that the appeal is not automatic. The high court will review the application and let Settle know within the next month about whether it will hear the appeal, he says.

A Louisiana appeals court on Tuesday affirmed a ruling in favor of the Bossier Parish School Board in a suit alleging fraud in connection with the April bond election.

A five-judge panel from the appellate court heard the case Monday morning.

A Bossier Parish judge ruled in favor of the BPSB on June 25th, striking down the lawsuit filed by Bossier attorney John Settle that claimed the school board had misled voters in the April bond election. Settle wants the election results thrown out.

In a statement responding to Tuesday's ruling, the Bossier Parish School Board says, "In no way did the Bossier Parish School Board attempt to mislead the public, suppress the fact that properties in Bossier Parish were scheduled to be reassessed in 2012 or misuse taxpayer dollars in its efforts to inform and educate voters about the bond issue."
