We celebrate Independence Day because the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776.
Here are some things you may not know about the holiday…
On July 4, 1776, there were 2.5 million people living in our nation. Now, there are more than 313 million.
Betsy Ross is credited with making the first American flag but today, an incredible number of American flags are made in China.
Chances are, the beef hot dogs, steaks and burgers for your holiday cookout came from Texas.
Most of your fireworks came from China which is understandable since the Chinese invented them in the 7th century.
Those are just some fun facts about the Fourth of July. The real significance of Independence Day is when the founders of our great nation declared their independence from Great Britain. That took courage, vision and the overwhelming need for freedom. The freedom we enjoy today.
