Everything that Caddo Magnet's Mary Meyers does is to the best of her ability, especially on the tennis court. That's why she was named the Lander's Dodge Chrysler Jeep Athlete of the Week.
"She's improved her game tremendously. She could actually play pro tennis some day if she continues playing," said Andy Lloyd, Meyers' tennis coach.
Add two state singles titles and a top 100 ranking to her list, Meyers cherished being one of the biggest targets on a tennis court.
"It helped me being seeded and it was like a warning signal because she's seeded, she must be good," said Meyers about herself. "It was nice to have that sign that told everyone else that I worked really hard at this and I was a threat."
For her hours of hard work both in the classroom and on the tennis court, Mary will be headed to the Air Force Academy to play tennis.
"By being a fighter pilot, I can serve my nation and do something that I really enjoy. With tennis, they have amazing workout facilities and it's Olympic Gold. It's so beautiful up there."
