HOSSTON, LA (KSLA) -
Authorities have identified Gertha Jackson, 41, of Shreveport as the driver of a tractor-trailer "bobtail" involved in the fatal accident that claimed her life Monday morning north of Hosston.
Caddo Sheriff's Office Cpl. Mike Vaitkus says a tractor-trailer "bobtail" (no trailer attached) was traveling southbound on Hwy. 71 when Jackson moved into the northbound lane on a hill to pass another vehicle.
In doing so, Jackson moved into the path of a northbound SUV, Vaitkus says. Jackson then continued off the road and rolled several times, finally coming to rest upside down near Hale School Road. She was ejected and pinned underneath the cab.
Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation by the Caddo Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit.
