A furniture business icon in the ArkLaTex passed away Saturday after a long illness.

Carl Phillip Escude, better known as "The man on the rooftop",  flooded the airwaves for years with his colorful TV ads for his business, New York Fine Furniture. Escude owned and operated the furniture store for 33 years. Escude was 75-years-old.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Osborn Funeral Home in Shreveport with a rosary to follow. A farewell mass will take place Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church followed by an interment at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville.

In lieu of flowers, the family says contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
