LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Authorities report that a high-speed chase occurred in Longview Friday afternoon.

It began at about 3:20 p.m. Friday, when police say they received the report of a stolen pickup truck. The truck was spotted near Garfield and High Streets, and then began fleeing down Garfield.

The black pickup truck was being driven at 70-plus miles per hour, police say, down Garfield Street in Longview, and then turned into a neighborhood with police in pursuit.

At Flanagan Street the truck hit a car, according to authorities. The female driver of that car was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

At Jewel Street, police say the truck hit a stop sign, a fire hydrant, a phone pole, and then swiped a house. The truck went about 100 more yards, finally coming to a stop.

The police apprehended the driver and arrested him. The passenger reportedly fled on foot, but was also taken into custody. Their identities have not yet been released.

We have a reporter on the scene and will update with more details as they become available.
