SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport family is asking for prayers after their baby was born prematurely.

Ramsey Branch and wife, Haley Branch are at the Ronald McDonald House at the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital in Galveston after their son, Ryan, was born at just 29 weeks on June 14th. Baby Ryan was delivered via C-section. He is one week old and weighs about 3 lbs. 2 oz. Baby Ryan remains in intensive care and is in fair condition despite a number of challenging medical issues.

The couple was on vacation in Galveston when Haley's water broke after they returned to their hotel room.

Ramsey is a special education teacher and baseball coach at C.E. Byrd High School. Ramsey says Byrd faculty and staff as well as members of their congregation at the University Church of Christ on East 70th Street have been very supportive.

You can help the Branch family by donating to a fund set up at Chase Bank.
