Three men have been indicted by a DeSoto Parish grand jury in connection with the home invasion and rape of an elderly Mansfield woman.

Michael Campbell, 18, LaDandrick Jones, 18, and Emmanuel Bogan, 19, all of Mansfield, are all charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated rape, and 2nd degree battery.

The three were arrested around 11 p.m. June 21. Mansfield PD Assistant Chief Gary Hobbs says there had been a vehicle burglary in the vicinity of the home invasion and from that incident, police identified one suspect who, while in custody, led them to two other arrests.

Police say this was a random act of violence. Law enforcement officials allege that the three men went to the victim's home on the night of June 18th.  While there, they demanded money and beat the elderly woman.  Evidence indicated that the victim suffered a sexual assault, as well.

DeSoto District Attorney Richard Z. Johnson, Jr. stated that he is pleased with the grand jury's efforts.  "Today, the grand jury enabled us to take the next step in seeking justice for this victim."  Johnson went on to say that his office "will continue doing everything possible to protect the community's most vulnerable residents—the elderly and children."

An aggravated rape conviction carries a mandatory life sentence without parole or probation. Aggravated burglary brings up to 30 years in prison. 2nd degree battery carries a sentence of up to 5 years in prison.

All three are being held at the DeSoto Parish Detention Center, held on $1.6 million bond each. They're due back in court July 18 for arraignments on the indictments.
