Fred Childers was named Reporter of the Year in 2009 by the Louisiana Broadcasters Association. Fred has twelve years of experience in broadcast journalism. He has spent the last 6 here at KSLA, reporting on everything from crime to politics, to hurricanes. Fred spent thirteen days in South Louisiana covering Hurricane Katrina, and the aftermath, doing live reports for stations all across the country. Fred took 2nd place in the Louisiana AP Awards for Hurricane Katrina coverage. Fred Graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville Texas.
