Texarkana man facing felony assault, drug charges

TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

A Texarkana man is behind bars on nearly a quarter of a million dollars bond, facing a laundry list of felony assault and drug charges after an altercation brought police to his home.

Bowie County Deputies were called to the home of David Lee Anderson, 24, on Highway 59 South in Texarkana early Wednesday morning and arrived to find a man who had been cut with a large knife on his nose and left hand. Deputies say the victim identified Anderson as the person who cut him. That victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

During their investigation, deputies say they found the following narcotics:

  • A zipper bag containing marijuana in plain view on the floor beside the coffee table
  • A prescription bottle containing Hydroco / APAP
  • A zipper bag containing 5 pills marked M367 believed to be hydrocodone
  • A zipper bag containing 8 suspected methadone
  • 2 zipper bags containing suspected crystal methamphetamine
  • 8 zipper bags containing suspected clonazepam, totaling 76 pills

As a result, Anderson was arrested on the following charges, with bond set at a total of $245,000:

  • Aggravated Assault with deadly weapon - bond $100,000.00
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance over 1 gram under 4 grams - bond $25,000.00
  • Possession of a controlled Substance under 1 gram - bond $10,000.00
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance over 3 under 28 grams - bond $10,000.00
  • Possession of Marijuana over 4 ounces under 5 pounds - bond $100,000.00
