Homeland Security in Claiborne Parish warns "Stay home"

CLAIBORNE PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Authorities in Claiborne Parish are warning residents to stay home due to widespread damage across the parish. Severe weather rolled through the area Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

Cathy Greeson, Assistant Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness in Claiborne Parish says, "if it is not an emergency, then stay indoors." Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, Dennis Butcher and Claiborne Parish Sheriff Ken Bailey are asking that residents stay at home unless it is necessary for them to leave.

Authorities are assessing the damage and working to see if they will need assistance cleaning up. Greeson says Homer, LA was one of the hardest hit places. One resident tells us several trees and power lines are down throughout Homer.
