Infant hospitalized with fractured skull, broken ribs; teen dad charged

LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) -

A Lincoln County teenager is facing charges after deputies say his infant daughter was hospitalized with critical injuries, including a fractured skull and broken ribs.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, the Lincoln County Department of Social Services was called to the Levine Children's Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center for a critically injured infant.

Deputies say the 7-week-old girl was admitted with a skull fracture, brain bleeding and broken ribs. She was put into the intensive care unit at the hospital.

Detectives interviewed the father, 19-year-old Jordan Alan Minteer, of Lincolnton, on Sunday and charged him with Felony Child Abuse-Serious Bodily Injury. 

He is being held in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $125,000 secured bond.
