SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police confirm the victim in Wednesday's homicide on Rex Street in Highland was also the victim of domestic violence.

Latonya Jones was found dead in her bathtub on Wednesday night, after neighbors spotted her 3-year-old boy wandering out in the yard alone.

Police say Kendrick Norman was arrested Wednesday and charged with domestic abuse battery in connection with an incident on May 19, where Norman is accused of hitting Jones in the face.

Police say Norman has not been connected to the homicide by police and is not a suspect, but detectives say they are not ruling anything out.

Family members of Jones say they are in need of donations to help with burial expenses. A tentative funeral service is set for Saturday, June 16th.

Donations can be made at Heavenly Gates funeral home located at 1339 Jewell Street in Shreveport weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
