Nine-year-old nearly drowns in Shreveport; daughter of fire fighter

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A nine-year-old girl nearly drown Saturday at East Ridge Country Club in south Caddo Parish. According to sources, the young girl is the daughter of a Shreveport fire fighter.

Caddo Fire No. 5 received a call Saturday at 2:37 p.m. that the little girl was unresponsive after she was found at the bottom of the country club pool. The child was at a pool party at the time of the incident.

According to witnesses, another girl at the party told her dad she saw the nine-year-old at the bottom of the pool. He then jumped in and pulled her to safety. Emergency responders tell KSLA News 12 they are unsure of how long the little girl had been under water. She received CPR from witnesses who tried to revive her when first responders arrived. KSLA News 12 is unsure if the girls parents were at the pool at the time of the incident. We are being told that she did know how to swim.

She was taken to Willis Knighton where she remains in critical condition at this hour.
