SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Police arrested a man in connection with shooting in the Highland neighborhood Tuesday.

At approximately 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Southern Avenue relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, patrolmen found 22- year-old Tequindalyn Rogers suffering from a single gunshot wound to the left leg. Rogers was subsequently transported by the Shreveport Fire Department  to LSUHSC where she was treated for what was described as a non-life-threatening injury and later released.

Detectives responded to the scene and, upon  further investigation, discovered Rogers had been involved in an altercation with 27-year-old Kirk Jackson who allegedly got mad at her because she would not sit in his lap. Jackson then produced a handgun and fired a shot at her, striking her in the leg. Jackson fled the area before police arrived.

Jackson was taken to the Shreveport City Jail. Jackson was charged with aggravated battery and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
