Tax break this weekend for hurricane preparedness items

Louisiana residents have an opportunity to save this weekend during the state's Hurricane and Emergency Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday. Many of the items on the list are things that could come in handy any day, like batteries, not just in the case of a hurricane.

Full list:
- Portable self-powered light source
- Radio
- Tarps
- Any ground anchor system or tie-down kit
- Any gas tank
- Any package of batteries, excluding automobile and boat batteries
- Any cell phone battery or cell phone charger
- Any non-electric food storage cooler
- Any portable generator
- Any "storm-shutter" device
- Any carbon monoxide detector
- Any blue ice product

With our unique weather capable of causing power outages any season, it's a great time to stock up on supplies that could come in handy year round.
