SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KSLA) -
Officials with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office are investigating a body found in a wooded area near the Strong community.
Capt. Mike Tollett confirms they are investigating the case as a homicide.
According to Sheriff Newton Johnson, a person on a forest service road reported the body around 6:15 p.m. Sunday.
Johnson said the body is that of a black male. It was discovered about one mile west of FM 139.
No identification was found, but deputies now say they believe he was from Logansport.
Officials could not immediately determine a cause of death.
Johnson said an autopsy has been ordered and investigators are now attempting to identify the victim. Anyone with information on an identification should call the sheriff's office at 936-598-5600.
