BATON ROUGE, LA (KSLA) - A bill to ban the drug, "Zannie", is now awaiting approval by Governor Bobby Jindal.
Louisiana Poison Center Director Dr. Mark Ryan has worked with Senator Fred Mills of Saint Martin Parish to get the drug banned under state law. Dr. Ryan says "Zannie" is marketed as an air freshener. Ryan says he had the substance tested and the results showed it was 100 percent Phenazepam. He says this drug is on the list of controlled dangerous substances.
Mills says once the bill is approved, it will go into effect immediately.
