SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
Shreveport police believe the man who robbed a Highland area convenience store last Sunday struck again Friday morning.
At approximately 6:00 a.m. on May 18, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Valero gas station in the 1300 block of Kings Highway. Upon arrival there, patrolmen learned a male suspect wearing a white t-shirt with writing on the front, khaki pants and brown work boots entered the business armed with a box cutter and went behind the counter where he threatened employees and demanded cigarettes. The blade wielding bandit began filling a trash bag he brought with him full of cigarettes before absconding with the loot.
Investigators were immediately dispatched and, upon further investigation, determined this is the very same suspect who robbed a Circle K in the 300 block of Kings Highway just after 7:00 a.m. back on May 13, 2012. In that case a man wearing a white t-shirt with writing on it, khaki pants and brown work boots entered the store armed with a baseball bat and held the clerk at bay while he loaded up a trash bag he brought in with him with cartons of cigarettes. No one was injured in either crime.
The suspect in these robberies is described as a black male, approximately six feet five inches tall weighing about 180 pounds wearing a white t-shirt with "Schumpert" written on the front of it, kahaki pants and brown boots. Investigators are working on obtaining surveillance images from the Valero robbery but are again releasing images of the robber from the Circle K crime. Anyone with any information regarding this man is urged to call detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
