SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

An exhibit caught fire Tuesday morning at Sci-Port, forcing an evacuation.

Sci-Port Director of Development and Marketing Jennifer McMenamin says it was the Bernoulli Funnel exhibit, which demonstrates the effects of fluid velocity and pressure using air flow that suspends a beach ball in mid-air.

Smoke was reported just after 10:00 a.m. The building was evacuated and the fire department was called. There were no injuries. One student was treated for asthma by paramedics at the scene, but was not transported.

The science center draws just under 1,000 visitors daily, including school groups. There is no estimate yet on the damage. McMenamin says Sci-Port is expected to reopen to visitors once the fire department has given the all-clear.
