SAU Magnolia confirms that police investigators have interviewed William "Billy" Hamilton, a "person of interest" in the theft and slaughter of Southern Arkansas University rodeo horse.

Hamilton was arrested last week in Florida on unrelated charges of theft of livestock and appeared Monday in Pike County court for arraignment.

Circuit judge, Tom Cooper was initially set to preside over the arraignment, but dismissed himself on grounds that he prosecuted Hamilton years before in another unrelated case. The charges filed against Hamilton Monday reportedly are unrelated to the SAU theft case. His bond was set at $10,000.

In a police affidavit, an informant said Hamilton was the one who killed the SAU horse, ‘Credit Card'. Four other horses taken from the university stables November 2011, but were found alive. A determination has not yet been made as to whether charges will be filed.

Also in court Monday, Jaci Rae Jackson, 19. Jackson was in a McCurtain County, Oklahoma courtroom for a hearing on animal cruelty charges she faces in connection to the SAU horses theft.

Investigators believe she was the mastermind behind the theft. A clerk reported that the courtroom for Jackson's hearing was packed.

She's accused of stealing the horses and taking them across state lines to Oklahoma.
