SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A group of masked men entered a Shreveport apartment early Monday morning and fired shots at those inside.

The home invasion happened around midnight at the Olde Salem Village Apartments, located in the 6700 block of Buncombe Rd.

Police said the two men inside the apartment heard a knock at the door, and when they answered two to three masked men barged in and started shooting.

The two victims, Billy and Byron James, are brothers. Both were shot and taken to LSU Health Shreveport.  Police say they were both shot in the leg, and one was also shot in the shoulder.  One of the brothers got hit twice and the other 3 times. Both men are expected to recover.

Detectives say the victims did not report anything stolen or missing.

"When we talked to the gentlemen they had no idea who or why someone would fire shots," said Detective Rod Demery with the Shreveport Police Department.

The suspects fled the scene in what police described as a dark blue or gray Nissan Altima.  Police are looking for that getaway vehicle. Anyone with information on this crime is encouraged to call Shreveport Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
