Two former ETX councilmen arrested

CASS COUNTY, TX (KSLA) -

An investigation by Texas Rangers led to the arrests of two former city councilmen in Domino, Texas.

Cass County District Attorney Clint Allen says Roosevelt Gipson and Wilbur Davis were arrested and indicted for allegedly violating the Texas Open Meetings Act. Allen says Gipson and Davis participated in a closed meeting to appoint Tina Booth as temporary mayor of Domino.

Allen says Domino, Texas Mayor Freddye Frazier was elected after the alleged closed meeting happened. Frazier says the arrest should not affect her administration. "I am sorry that incident took place, but we have got to move on and not look back. And we are going forward," says Frazier. Frazier says the city is adopting a new motto, "Watch us grow: The city of Domino", to put this situation behind them.

Gipson and Davis are out on bond. Allen says both men face a fine of up to $500 or six months in jail.
