SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

New Jersey based paper company, Ronpak, has announced the relocation of their corporate headquarters to the Port of Shreveport-Bossier, bringing 100 new jobs in addition to the 175 manufacturing jobs already slated for the company's new manufacturing facility here.

The move was announced Monday at a groundbreaking ceremony for a new 155,000-square-foot facility at the Port, which is slated employ at least 132 people by the end of 2013.

According to a statement released by the office of Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, the 100 additional new jobs announced Monday include 20 new headquarters jobs and 80 new manufacturing jobs. By 2018, Ronpak will employ 275 people in Shreveport with an average annual salary of more than $40,500, plus benefits. Those direct jobs also will result in 783 new indirect jobs, LED estimates, leading to a total of more than 1,000 new jobs.

Ronpak and Governor Bobby Jindal announced the new factory in July, 2011. The company makes custom-printed paper bags, packages and food wraps and sells paper products to pharmacies and major fast food chains.

The head of the company, Ronald Sedley, said he decided to move his company to Louisiana because he has had such a good experience with working with people in the state and with tax breaks.

"You can get the red tape done and you can do things much more rapidly," said Sedley.

Governor Bobby Jindal hopes other companies will follow Ronpak's lead and move their companies to Louisiana.

"We had to compete with states all over the country.  This shows yet again that Louisiana can compete with anybody for good paying jobs," said Jindal.

To secure the manufacturing expansion and headquarters relocation, the state is providing Ronpak a performance-based grant of $2.25 million to offset costs of equipment for the manufacturing center, payable in two annual installments in 2016 and 2017. The state also will provide a performance-based grant of $900,000 to offset leasing or financing costs related to the headquarters, payable in ten annual installments, beginning in 2013. Ronpak also will receive the services of LED FastStart, the nation's top-rated workforce development program, and the company is expected to utilize Louisiana's Quality Jobs and Industrial Tax Exemption programs.
