Marshall, TX pastor arrested for alleged online solicitation

MARSHALL, TX (KSLA) -

A Harrison County, Texas pastor was arrested Wednesday morning for alleged solicitation of an underage girl via the Internet.

Raymond Earl Cooper, 42, and current pastor of the 1st Church of the Nazarene located in Marshall, Texas was charged with online solicitation of a minor.

Troopers of the Louisiana State Police Internet Crimes against Children Task Force out of Lafayette, La.; Texas Rangers of Company "B"; Marshall Police Department all worked together in apprehending Cooper.

Their on-going investigation revealed that Cooper had sexually solicited someone believed to have been a 14-year old female in an Internet chat room.

Online solicitation of a minor is a third degree felony, according to authorities. If convicted, Cooper faces two to 10 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
