SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

UPDATE: The jury in the murder trial of Kimethia Coleman returned to the courtroom shortly after 7 p.m. and requested to hear the tape of Coleman's call to 911. The jury also requested to view the crime scene video. Jurors returned to their deliberation at 7:50 p.m.

The jury began deliberations in the murder trial of Kimethia Coleman at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Closing arguments wrapped up Wednesday afternoon.

Coleman, 26, is charged with second degree murder in the stabbing death of  her Airman boyfriend, USAF  Sgt. Brian Spinks, at his Quail Creek apartment in January 2010.

Prosecutors finished closing arguments shortly after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, with Caddo Parish Assistant District Attorney Dale Cox telling the jury, "Whoever did that to him [Brian Spinks] did that with the intent to kill or do great bodily harm. Whoever slashed Brian Spinks' throat did so in a savage manner with the understanding that that would be the final fatal blow."

Testimony resumed for a sixth day Wednesday morning in the packed Caddo Parish courtroom with prosecutors calling a local doctor as an expert witness in the case.

Dr. Williams testified that Coleman was legally sane at the time of the stabbing [of Sgt. Brian Spinks], and has exaggerated her mental illness symptoms.

The testimony by Dr. Williams is in response to Coleman's plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

Also during Wednesday's proceedings, prosecutors reportedly gave the jury copy of testimony from witnesses who were not present for the trial.

Coleman has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
