SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The Caddo Sheriff's Office has identified the woman that was killed and the two others seriously injured after a wreck on I-49 Northbound Tuesday morning.

Deputies say 50-year-old Laura A. Winbush, of Fort Smith, Arkansas was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck involving a car and UPS truck. Deputies say 55-year-old Greg Winbush and his granddaughter 9-year-old Kendra Winbush were taken to LSUHSC. Deputies say Greg is listed in critical condition. Kendra was treated and released.

Deputies say the wreck involved a UPS tandem trailer loaded with packages and a passenger vehicle on I-49 Southbound at the Southern Loop.

Deputies say it happened after 10:00 a.m. when Greg was driving a silver Pontiac G6 that a witness says was heading Northbound on I-49 at a high rate of speed, crossed the median into the southbound lane and head-on into southbound tandem UPS 18-wheeler.

Life Air rescue airlifted both Greg and Kendra from the Pontiac to LSU Health. The UPS driver was uninjured. Police say they gave the UPS driver a drug test as part of standard procedure.

I-49 between Bert Kouns and the Southern Loop had to be shut down for more than four hours as a result, forcing a detour to Linwood and snarling traffic.

The UPS tandem trailers were loaded with packages. A spokesperson for UPS says they will be collected and inspected, and a determination will be made as to their condition. If the packages are going to be delayed, an exception will be noted in the tracking system so that customers can see the timing of the delivery.

If a package is damaged or destroyed beyond repair, UPS will reimburse the customer. They say anyone having a pending shipment in that category will be notified shortly.
