Strong winds took a toll on trees all over the ArkLaTex during Monday's midday storms, keeping homeowners and workers busy clearing downed limbs, and power crews busy repairing downed lines.
Winds caused a tree to come crashing down on a power line in the 1500 block of Buena Vista Street near Ford and Allen streets. SWEPCO crews were called to clear the line before city crews worked to remove the tree.
Heavy winds also caused a huge tree to fall in the South Highland neighborhood. Police say the tree fell in the 400 block of McCormick Street. Crews were came out right after it fell to clean the street. No one was injured.
A large tree limb came crashing down at Linden Street and Line Avenue. The limb hit several parked cars creating a huge mess for city workers. No one was injured but the tree limb did cause several hundreds of dollars in damages.
A large tree fell on a home in the 3800 block of Ninock Street. Homeowner Moses Nelson says he was not in his house when the tree fell. The tree went through the living room and kitchen windows. Nelson says the kitchen floor is covered in debris. Nelson's carport and truck were also damaged by the tree. Nelson says he believes he would have been injured or killed if he was home when the tree fell.
In Bossier Parish, several trees came dangerously close to crushing two homes on Auburn Wood Road. Strong winds caused the huge oak trees to snap. KSLA News 12 stopped to assess the damage, but the roofs appeared to be intact.
