SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Josh Springer's recovery has been nothing short of amazing. It has been one month since KSLA News 12 first told you about Springer and his tragic motorcycle accident that landed him in the hospital, unresponsive.

Now, his family says Josh continues to defy the odds. A few weeks back Josh opened his eyes. This was a major break through in his recovery, and at this point the family said doctors started to change their tune.

"Well, he can speak now. He knows everybody that comes in. He can say their names," says Josh's mother Madeline Springer.

Not only can Josh speak, but he can walk as well. Springer is not moving around on his own yet, but his family says it's only a matter of time. With hospital staff by his side Josh now manages to put one foot in front of the other, once again showing everyone he's not giving up.

"We find out a different story everyday about somebody praying for us, you know. And, most of the people we don't even know," his mother says.

Lacy and Madeline Springer said they will need that prayer as Josh's next step is rehab. There his motor skills and his though process will hopefully be fine tuned. The Springer family said they know rehab will not be without some difficulty  but if Josh's new found ability to walk is any sign of the effort he is willing to make, the rest is just "a walk in the park."
