HENDERSON, TX (KLTV) -
Officials with the Henderson Police Department say investigators and federal agents are in East Texas looking for more evidence against the mother/daughter duo suspected of robbing a Henderson bank.
Evie Mearlene Herrin, 57, and Amelia Darci Crew, 30, both from Cleveland, Texas, were arrested Monday in Gulfport, MS. The pair is now accused of robbing a total of four banks in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
Amelia Crew has been charged with three counts of armed robbery--one count in Mississippi, the other two in Louisiana. She is currently being held in the Harrison County, MS Adult Detention Center.
The Harrison County Adult Detention Center confirms that there is no record that Evie Herrin is in their custody. Sheriff's officials say Herrin was taken directly from the scene to a hospital. At this point, it's unclear why Herrin was transported.
Henderson Police Lt. Craig Sweeney says he believes the U.S. Attorney's Office intends to keep the suspects in custody in Mississippi. Sweeney continued that the U.S. Attorney's Office will likely add the additional charge or charges from the Henderson robbery and make one big case.
Investigators are looking to find evidence linking both women to all four bank robberies.
Although no charges have been filed, the mother/daughter duo are the prime suspects in the robbery of Citizen's National Bank in Henderson late last month.
