ETMC robbery suspect arrested

Posted: Updated:
TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Tyler Police arrested the man they say is responsible for attacking two women outside of East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

The attacks happened just three weeks apart.

The latest attack happened Monday night to a 44-year-old nurse, Melinda Fox.

Fox was stabbed and robbed.

Royce Dwayne Allen, 33, is charged with aggravated robbery. He's accused in both attacks.

Allen was arrested on Wednesday morning at his girlfriend's house off of Donnybrook in Tyler, after authorities obtained a search warrant and an arrest warrant for aggravated robbery.

Authorities say they found several articles of clothing at Allen's home that connected him to both attacks.

Allen had an outstanding warrant for non-payment of child support.

Investigators say they are confident Allen is responsible for both aggravated robberies at ETMC.

Officials say a second arrest warrant will be issued on Thursday.

Allen is currently in Smith County Jail on a $300,000.00 Bond.

Officials with East Texas Medical Center issued the following statement on Wednesday afternoon:

East Texas Medical Center Tyler thanks the men and women of the Tyler Police Department for their hard work which led to an arrest in the robberies that occurred on our campus.

We are pleased that ETMC's video surveillance cameras assisted the police in the apprehension of the suspect. We also thank the news media for their assistance in showing the video to help capture the suspect.

ETMC pledges to continue its focus on providing a high level of security to our visitors, patients and team members.
